Christmas is a festival which gives the message of brotherhood, besides love and peace, hence we should celebrate it by imbibing its significance, said Mr Pawan Bansal, city Member of Parliament. He was speaking at a Christmas function organized by All India Rajiv Gandhi Brigade at Bal Bhawan in Sector 23 here today.
Mr Bansal while joining the Christmas celebrations there said Jesus Christ was a true preacher of love and he came into this world to spread love among us. While extending Christmas wishes to city residents, the MP appealed to maintain calm and brotherhood.
The MP also lauded the services being rendered by the Christian community in providing quality education through convent schools and also for leading various voluntary social services for the betterment of mankind.
There was carol singing at the celebrations which were held to mark the occasion. District President of the Brigade Chaggan Lal was also present on the occasion and while extending his wishes said Mr Bansal has always supported the Christian community and thanked him for the same.
Mr Bansal was also the chief guest at a Christmas function organized by Unity of Faith Church, Sector 49 here. There was a cultural programme by children who staged the story of Jesus Christ. The MP while speaking on the occasion said the people should follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, who believed in love and forgiveness.
Indian Christian Assembly Church, Manimajra celebrated Christmas Day at Manimajra. Mr Pawan Bansal who was the chief guest on the occasion while speaking on the occasion appealed for keeping alive the secular spirit of India and said being a mosaic of so many religious the country had its own character, adding that the city had a substantial Christian population which was contributing a lot in the growth of the city.
Pastor Rajan Baby of Indian Christian Assembly was also present on the occasion and thanked Mr Bansal for taking out time to join them in Christmas celebrations. The Colony Cell of the Congress local unit under the presidentship of Shashi Shakar Tiwari also organized a function in the evening at Ram Darbar to mark the occasion.
