BJP's 'Masihaa' faces criticism, Supreme Court stamps allegations of alliance – Pawan Kumar Bansal
In the case of Chandigarh mayoral election, the Supreme Court made strong remarks on Monday. Election officer Anil Masih was reprimanded by the Supreme Court. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said - it is clear that he distorted the ballot papers. Is this how they conduct elections? This is a mockery and murder of democracy. A case should be filed against this officer.
Former Congress MP Pawan Kumar Bansal said today's proceedings have been a victory of truth, "When we made such allegations, the BJP was claiming to be clean. Now, where is their integrity? BJP conspired to win the mayoral election by undermining democratic values, which was first exposed in the people's court, and now in the court of law. BJP should apologize for its actions to the entire country."
The Supreme Court has ordered a seizure of all records, including mayoral election ballot papers and videography, to be kept with the Registrar General of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court also directed that the next meeting of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation shall be postponed. AAP-Congress joint candidate Kuldeep Kumar has filed a petition, in which he demanded a re-election after removing the newly elected mayor Manoj Sonkar of the BJP. The petition argued that election officer Anil Masih manipulated the vote count.
