Chandigarh MP, Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal today while extending support to the demands of Horticulture Workers Union, said he would take them up with the concerned authorities in Municipal Corporation and Chandigarh Administration.
He was addressing the union members at a gate meeting held in Sector 23 Jang Ghar here today.
While addressing the gate meeting Mr Laljeet, President of the Union and Raja Ram, General Secretary thanked Mr Bansal for supporting the cause of the employees.
The various demands of the employees include, risk duty allowance for those involved in cutting parthenium grass, filling up of vacancies as many posts have been lying vacant, honorarium for daily wagers and gardeners, besides other demands.
Mr Ashwani Kumar, leader Coordination Committee of UT Employees said the Chandigarh Administration is not regularizing the services of daily wagers even when they were putting in their hard work and entire day in carrying out their duty.
Mr Rakesh Kumar, Convener Coordination Committee said the employees are also demanding central pay scale, and removing 5 percent ceiling on compassionate appointments but their demands have not been met.
Mr Bansal while assuring the employees of taking up their demands said there was no reason why so many vacant posts were not being filled up, adding that he would take it up with the officials.
While referring to the demand of daily wagers not being regularised he said he has taken up the issue in Delhi as well and soon there will be a solution to the problem, which would positively impact around 1700 such employees. He added such rights of employees should be secured and they should get retirement benefits as well.
