"I want to develop the health facilities up to a level that there was no shortage of rooms or beds in any of the areas of the city. I also want to develop the government school education that all get quality education and there was no shortage of seats in these schools," said sitting MP and congress candidate from Chandigarh, Pawan Kumar Bansal.
Bansal was addressing the members of Jaito Welfare Society in sector 21 on Thursday.
Bansal said that the health facilities and education was right of all. During the recent past, three smart government model schools had been opened in the city, which were also catering to residents of slum areas. More schools were being opened and budget had been allocated for creating infrastructure for increasing the seats in existing government schools.
Similarly, in health sectors, new blocks had been added in GMCH, sector 32 and GMSH, sector 16. Further 50 beds had been added in hospital in Manimajra and infrastructure was also being created in sector 45. Bansal said that his vision was that no recommendations or ‘sifarish’ was required to get a room in quality hospitals in city.
Amrit Pal, president, Vinod Goel, general secretary and Ramesh Goel, patron of the Jaito Welfare Society assured their support to Bansal. Renu Bedi, K.K.Beniwal, N.K.Nanda and Sunita devi also spoke on the occasion.
Municipal Councilor Gurbax Rawat was also present on the occasion.
Addressing a rally in Manimajra he said, Chandigarh is the first city of the country, where initiative has been take to make it a slum free city. More than 12000 houses under slum rehabilitation scheme have already been constructed and 13000 more were being constructed.
Bansal was addressing the residents of Manimajra in a big rally near Rana Haveli. Former union minister Kumari Selja was also present on the occasion. Bansal said that as minister, Kumari Selja had contributed a lot for the city by giving the projects not only in housing for poor but also had given projects for development of tourism sector in the city beautiful.
Speaking on the occasion, Kumari Selja said that it was only congress that had taken initiatives for overall development of the country.
Prominent among those who were present included, Chandigarh Mayor H.C.Kalyan, former Mayors, Subhash Chawal and Surinder Singh, H.S.Lucky, Lalit Joshi, Daljit Singh, Pardeep Bhagra, Taj mohd and Singh Ram.
Mr. Bansal also got a rousing welcome in Sector 7 market where he was greeted by Market Welfare Association. On the occasion players of the table soccer reached there with their coach Balwinder Singh in support of Mr. Bansal.
Bansal while addressing the traders said today Chandigarh has set an example of being the modern city and Congress has worked hard because of which city was today on international map. Among prominent leaders present were Harmel Kesari, Raj Bala Malik, H.C. Kalyan, Vikas Soni, Lalit Singla, Ashok Grover, Paramjeet Singh Bahadur, Gurwinder Singh, Brij Mohan Kalra, Rakesh Kumar and Mukesh Verma.
Mr. Bansal also went to Panjab University and met the employees there. Mr. Bansal informed that during his tenure there has been a lot of development including dental college, excellence centre, besides parks etc. Among those present were G.C. Chatrath, Anu Chatrath, Uma Shankar, Dharampal Sharma, Yograj Nahar, Rampal, Ravinder Mohan, Ravinder Mohan Trikha, Principal Gurbachan Singh among others.
