Large number of residents and shopkeepers of sector 27 and 28 walked in the corridors of the markets of the sector when ‘The man next door’- sitting MP and congress candidate from Chandigarh Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal reached there for his election campaign -‘Jagrukta Yatra’.
As Mr. Bansal reached Motor Market Association in sector 28, where he was received by Mr. Khalid Khan, the chairman of the motor market, large number of other members of the association and also former municipal councilor Mr. Davinder Singh Babla. Addressing the gathering, Bansal talked about his initiative of opening various small booths for mechanics and others associated with the business. Bansal said that small booths had been constructed near the petrol pumps in various sectors that had not only helped the people associated with the trade by providing them a permanent place but also had helped the residents of the city. Bansal said that with the changing times, needs also change and he was committed to take up all their legitimate issues.
As Mr. Bansal walked through the main market of sector 28 and sector 27, he was received by different shopkeepers who as a gesture of expressing their faith and support to him, offered him garlands, sweets and other eatables. The young entrepreneurs were particularly keen in meeting their own leader and getting the photos clicked with him. They said they would support Mr. Bansal as he was the person who took the initiative of rehabilitating them.
Earlier during early morning hours, Mr. Bansal held a padyatra in Ram Darbar in Industrial Area phase 2. As Bansal reached there, people came out and welcomed him. He passed through the streets of Ram Darbar, interacted with people who promised their support to him. On their request, Mr. Bansal also flagged off four buses of devotees who left city for their visit to holy shrine, Vaishno Devi.
Prominent among those who accompanied Bansal included Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee president, B.B.Bahl , D.D.Jindal, former Mayors Subash Chawla, Kamlesh and Ravinder Palli, Davinder Babbla , Poonam Sharma, Satish Kainth, Sat Parkash Aggarwal, Shashi Shanker Tiwari, Om Parkash Saini, H.S.lucky, Ajay Joshi, Dr.O.P. Verma, Vinod Sharma, Pardeep Bhardwaj, Dharamveer, Maninder Dhillon, Gurpreet Gabi, Renu Singla, Kamlesh Choudhary, Indu, Ashok Grover, Lalit Singla and Jugnu Vohra.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal while addressing a public meeting in Sector 30 here this evening assured the issue of ownership rights of houses would be resolved after looking into its legalities. The residents had demanded that their houses were on GPA and demanded they be given ownership rights.
Referring to Congress manifesto released yesterday he said people will now also get the Right to Health and Right to House, which happens to be a landmark development.
He said city today boasts of good infrastructure, good hospitals and upgraded schools. He said city is now connected with several Indian cities through trains, which include places of pilgrimage as well. He appealed to the people to spread the message of development which Congress had promised and performed.
