"BJP promised water supply for 24 hours, couldn't even provide clean water": Pawan Bansal
Senior Congress leader and former Chandigarh MP Pawan Kumar Bansal on Thursday bashed at the BJP government and the Chandigarh administration over the problems arising in various parts of the city due to the issue of contaminated water. He stated that the complaints regarding dirty water are rising in many parts of the city. In Sector 38-A, the water has been severely contaminated and many residents fell ill after consumption because of which people have been forced to come out of their homes to protest. Pawan Bansal says that this situation has risen during the tenure of the same BJP that had promised to provide 24-hour water supply to the people of Chandigarh in its manifesto of 2019, but they couldn't even provide clean drinkable water.
"Recently, I visited the Vikas Nagar area, where people complained about dirty water being supplied by the administration. Before this, people in Dhanas also raised the issue that water only came once or twice a day, and that too dirty. This is a big failure on BJP's part, which has failed to provide even basic amenities like water. The pilot project to provide water for 24 hours, that was supposed to start for the Manimajra area, has not started yet. While the people of the city are getting hefty bills of water every year, the administration has failed to provide the safe and clean water to its residents. Drinking dirty water has made people prone to unwanted diseases resulting in increased spend on their health treatments, which is very difficult in this era of inflation."
Pawan Kumar Bansal raised questions on the BJP's accountability, saying that the BJP has ruined the condition of Chandigarh in the last 10 years. BJP people just want to enjoy power which they have learnt to snatch through undemocratic means, but do not know how to work for the people.
