Himachalis have contributed a lot to city: Bansal

Chandigarh MP and former union minister Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal has said that people of Himachal Pradesh were making tremendous contributions in all spheres and they had played a major role in developing Chandigarh town. Mr. Bansal was addressing the members of Himachal Mahasabha in its 14th annual function, organized at Bhargava Auditorium in PGI at Chandigarh. Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh was the chief guest in the function. 

Mr. Bansal said that the residents of Himachal Pradesh had played an important role for the development of city beautiful. Bansal said that tourism growth in Himachal Pradesh has also given boost to tourism development of Chandigarh. 

Addressing the members of the Himachal Mahasabha, Virbhadra Singh said that Chandigarh was an important city of the region and it had recently emerged as a main centre of education, health and information technology. He added that although there were several prestigious educational institutions in Himachal, still thousands of youth of the State opt Chandigarh for their higher studies.

Referring to the industrial package announced for Himachal Pradesh, Virbhadra Singh said that this package was terminated midway due to pressure mounted by neighbouring States. He said that now this package has been extended till 2017 which would give boost to industrialization in the State. He said that people of Himachal had sacrificed a lot for sake of neighbouring States by giving their prime land for construction of Bhakra Dam. He said that thousands of people still waits proper rehabilitation. He said that this has resulted in prosperity in neighbouring States including Punjab and Haryana. Singh said. 

Virbhadra appreciated the efforts of Himachal Mahasabha Chandigarh for helping in preserving and showcasing the rich culture of the State at Chandigarh.
