Local MP, Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal today inaugurated the 15 KWp Solar Cycle Stand and Green House at Government Middle School, Sector 46-D here. The Solar Cycle Stand has been commissioned at a cost of Rs.18.58 lakhs from MPLAD Scheme and executed by CREST(Chandigarh Renewal Science & Technology Promotion Society), a Society under Department of Science & Technology, UT Chandigarh, through M/s Exicom Tele System Ltd., Gurgaon.
Among others present included Mr. Harphool Chandar Kalyan, Mayor, Chandigarh & Mr. Santosh Kumar, IFS, Director (Science & Technology) .
Later on while interacting with media, Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal appreciated the efforts taken by Science & Technology Department in developing Chandigarh as Model Solar City and promoting Renewable Energy options like Solar Energy and informed that in future more emphasis shall be given to promote its use by Private individual on their rooftop.
Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal emphasised that Solar Cycle Stand is a new concept where we can generate green power besides parking of cycles under the shaded area and also harvest the rain water for charging the ground water. He informed that more such Solar cycle stands shall be constructed from MPLAD Scheme.
This school based cycle stand is the first solar cycle stand in the Northern region. The capacity of the SPV power plant is 15KWp. The covered area of this cycle stand is 1050 Sq. feet where more than 100 cycles can be accommodated. This Solar power plant will generate more than 20,000 units of electricity per annum.
