Chandigarh Member of Parliament, Mr Pawan Bansal today urged the UT Administration to rehabilitate those Colony 5 residents who had been displaced during the demolition by the enforcement staff a fortnight back.
He said those displaced should be rehabilitated in the existing prefabricated structures. The Finance Secretary, UT, Mr. V.K. Singh assured the objections would be removed at the earliest.
The Chandigarh Administration has also decided that till alternate arrangements for Colony 5 are taken, no other slum would be removed.
It may be recalled the local unit of Congress had 10 days back held a camp for the residents of Colony 5. Former mayor Pardeep Chhabra and Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee (CTCC) president B.B. Bahl had heard the grievances of the residents who have been displaced.
